How to use it

Type words or names, one per line (up to 18 characters, max 12 lines).
Choose the letter size, style (dotted or light gray model), and line type.
Set the number of tracing lines and blank lines after each word.
Print on A4 at 100% scale or download the page as SVG.

A worked example

Example: "Leah" and "House", medium size, Seyès ruling, 2 model lines and 1 blank line. Each word generates a first solid line (model), a dotted line to trace over, and a blank line. Everything fits on one A4 page for both words.

Method, underlying assumptions, and limits

Method. Each word is cleaned (special characters removed, up to 18 characters maximum) and drawn as vector text: solid line for the model, dotted or light gray for the tracing lines. Pages are split based on line height. No text is sent anywhere: everything stays on your browser page.

Limitations. The font uses rounded block letters, not school-style connected cursive. Letters do not show stroke directional arrows: demonstrate the writing motion to your child. If the website font fails to load, a fallback rounded font is used.

Frequently asked questions

Why only one model line?

So the child can observe a clean model and then trace the dotted lines. You can add multiple tracing lines.

Which size should I choose?

Large (48) when starting around age 4 or 5, medium (36) after that, small (28) for finer lines.
