Symmetry coloring grids, complete with answer keys.
One half of the drawing is already colored: your child completes the other side like a mirror image. Select the grid size, number of colors, and axis, then print the worksheets and their answer keys. Every answer key is verified programmatically.

Your grid collection
Adjust grid size and difficulty. The same seed will always generate the exact same worksheets.
Worksheet 1
Worksheet 2
Worksheet 3
3 distinct worksheet(s) generated for the seed "lune-2026". Automatic check: the answer key is an exact reflection of each solved page.
How to use it
- Choose the number of rows and columns on one side of the axis (for example, 5 rows and 4 columns).
- Set the symmetry axis (vertical, horizontal, or dual), the number of colors, and the density of colored cells.
- Keep the suggested seed or enter your own custom text, then choose how many worksheets you need.
- Print the activity sheets, set answer keys aside, or download individual worksheets and answer keys in SVG format.
A worked example
Example: 5 rows, 4 columns per side, vertical axis, 3 colors. The total grid has 5 × 8 = 40 squares; the provided half contains 20, partially colored. Your child colors each square mirrored across the red center line: a cell in column 1 reflects to column 8, column 2 reflects to column 7, and so forth.
When using "both axes", only one quarter of the grid is provided: your child reflects the pattern horizontally to the right, then vertically downward.
Method, underlying assumptions, and limits
Method. The engine randomly colors (using a fixed seed) half or one-quarter of the grid, then computes the solution by mirroring each given cell into its opposite cell. Prior to display, it verifies that every cell matches its reflection and that initial inputs appear identically in the answer key. All generated worksheets in a set are unique.
Limitations. This tool does not grade formal academic standards: larger grids simply demand greater focus and care. When printing, ensure your printer scale is set to A4 at 100%. If colors are hard to differentiate on black-and-white printouts, your child can write color initials in the squares instead.
Frequently asked questions
At what age should children start symmetry exercises?
Starting around age 5 or 6 with a small grid and two colors. Dual-axis symmetry grids are better suited for older children with stronger spatial confidence.
Is the calculated answer key reliable?
Yes: it is calculated using exact mathematical symmetry and pre-verified prior to rendering each worksheet.
Can I regenerate the exact same set tomorrow?
Yes, entering the same settings and seed will produce the exact same set of worksheets.
Are my custom settings saved?
No. Everything is computed directly inside your web page; no data is sent or stored externally.
