A worksheet ready in four steps
Start with a small grid, for instance 4 columns and 4 rows. Choose a single worksheet to try it out. Keep the seed "milo-atelier", then create the series. Hand out the activity; open the answer key only to guide your child. The exit is at the bottom right and the entrance at the top left.
To find a series again, reuse the exact same rows, columns, count, and main seed. The JSON file keeps these settings: open it as text and copy its values into the fields. It contains no personal data about the child. The exact seed displayed under each worksheet also identifies its position in the series; to reproduce the series, keep the main seed from the form.
Choosing a comfortable size
The number of squares increases with both dimensions: 4 × 4 makes 16 squares, 8 × 8 makes 64, and 24 × 24 makes 576. A large grid requires more spatial orientation; its size does not measure school grade level. Offer a finger path first, then a pencil path if your child feels like it. They can pause and resume without a timer or grades.
For a group workshop, create two to six worksheets with the same dimensions. The layouts will be distinct, but their actual difficulty may vary: the number of turns and path length depend on the seed. This is not a calibrated educational progression.
How solutions are verified
The generator visits all squares in a rectangle and connects each one to a previously visited square. This depth-first search generation builds a tree: all squares are accessible and a single path connects the entrance to the exit. A second search, breadth-first, calculates the solution using the actually open passages. The series generator compares layouts to avoid duplicates.
Corridors are strictly horizontal and vertical. This tool does not create silhouettes, diagonal passages, or numbered challenges. Worksheets are generated by a deterministic algorithm, without AI services or remote API calls containing your settings.
Printing or reusing the worksheet
SVG is a vector graphic format that stays crisp when resized. Each button exports a single worksheet or a single answer key. Open the file in a browser to print it or in vector software to include it in a lesson plan. No commercial links are added to exported files.
The print buttons format one A4 page per worksheet. Select A4 paper in your print dialog, disable browser headers, and check the preview. You can also select "Save as PDF" if your browser supports it. The tool does not download PDFs directly.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free without registration?
Yes, generating, viewing answer keys, and exporting with this tool are free and require no email. Hepaly products offered on the website have their own terms.
Can I recreate the exact same maze tomorrow?
Yes: keep the main seed and dimensions. With this version of the generator, the same settings will produce the same series.
Is there always a solution?
Yes, every grid is fully connected and features a single unique path from start to finish. The answer key follows the open corridors.
Are inputs saved?
The generator does not store or transmit your settings. Downloading the JSON is an explicit action that creates a file on your device. The website retains its standard practices described in its privacy policy.
